|
Sakonnet Vineyards in Little Compton RI, on the eastern shore of the Sakonnet River (map), is among Rhode Island's oldest and most well-established vineyards, having been founded in 1975. Echoing the traditions (and climate) of northern France, Sakonnet grows traditional vinifera grapes such as Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Gewurztraminer, as well as French-American hybrids including Cabernet Franc and Vidal Blanc. The vineyard produces about 30,000 cases of wine each year. Vineyard tours and wine tastings are offered most days throughout the year. Sakonnet
